San Diego, CA: Holiday Bowl Tonight, Tix Still Available!

Tonight (12/28) at 5PM PST will be the kickoff for the Holiday Bowl being played at Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley San Diego.  Qualcomm, or The Q as we call it, will be temporarily re-named Snapdragon Stadium for this game and for the Poinsettia Bowl that was played last week.  The name change is a way for Qualcomm to draw attention to it's Snapdragon mobile processors.  Snapdragon processors are probably in all your favorite tech savvy phones, tablets and other gadgets.

Last I heard, there are approximately 8,000 tickets still available.  The stadium holds 66,000 people so I think taking the trolley would be your best bet.  San Diego Mass Transit is an award winning transit system.  We have the trolley which gets you all over town and even as far away as the Mexican border and east to Santee.  We also have buses that seem to always be on time, we have the Coaster, a train that takes you up into North County, and we even have Amtrak whcih now offers WiFi.

Okay, back to the game.  It will be Cal (University of California Berkeley) vs Texas (University of Texas).  San Diego Holiday Bowl Cal vs TexasThey both have the same record this year, 7 wins, 5 losses.  Cal is in the Pac 12 and Texas is in the Big 12.  On paper, it should be an even game.  Personally, I am rooting for the Cal Golden Bears.  I didn't go to school there, my alma mata doesn't even have a football team anymore, but years (many) ago I did date a Cal football player and went to a lot of games and parties in Berkeley.  Both Austin and Berkeley are beautiful cities with a lot going for them.  Both universities are highly accredited and both have rabid fans.  The fans have really been enjoying San Diego this week.  Our weather has been picture perfect and I have run across fans from both schools downtown San Diego, Coronado and La Jolla.  I'm sure many are soaking up the sun and ambiance at Pacific/Mission Beach too.

Earlier today, they had the Big Bay Balloon Parade which is always in conjunction with the Holiday Bowl.  This parade is the largest balloon parade in the country, apparently more balloons than Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!  The parade route is right on Harbor Road, with the gorgeous San Diego Bay as the backdrop.  Here'sBetty Boop At San Diego Balloon Parade a photo of Betty Boop, a huge fan fave!

To get tickets to the game just log on to the Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl ticket center.  Whether you watch it live, or on TV, enjoy the game.  If you watch on TV, I'm sure they will show a lot of the local scenery.  There have been blimps flying around town the last several days and they are filming the filler shots.  If you fall in love and want a San Diego relocation package just click here.
